The only polyol or sugar alcohol, that is produced primarily by the process of fermentation, Erythritol acts as an excellent alternative to sugar for people having diabetes, pre diabetes, obesity or any other metabolic problems. Though very similar to and just as sweet as table sugar, thecalorie content of Erythritol is very low and is known as a weight loss friendly sweetener. Therefore, if the body weight is about 65 kilograms, they can consume up to 65 grams of Erythritol in a day.

Erythritol is used in the same way as sugar. Just stir it into the beverage, sprinkle it on fruits and vegetables for salads, and mix it in the batter to bake. However, it should be kept in mind that Erythritol is not a real sugar but is a substitute and hence, the user could experience a difference in taste in the food it is added to.
