Summer Activities for You and Your Toddler

Posted by Armstrong Louis on December 6th, 2019

With summer around the corner and December holidays in arms reach, it’s time to start planning different activities for your family, as well as think about what essentials to bring along with you. Firstly, and most importantly, you need to purchase a pair of toddler sandals, especially because of the heat waves that are on their way in South Africa. The ground is going to be hot and it’s important that you keep your little one’s feet protected. Luckily for you, there is a wide range of stores that sell toddler sandals in South Africa.

Below are a number of activities for you and your family to do this summer, as well as why it is of such importance to purchase toddler sandals for your little one. (Information credit - https://shooshoos.co.za/collections/toddler-sandals)

Family Picnic

What else screams ‘outdoor summer fun’ more than a family picnic! This is the perfect activity to ensure everyone in the family has a good time. You will definitely need to pack toddler sandals for this activity. There may be thorns, broken glass, or other sharp objects that could hurt their feet. Toddler sandals are an essential for your little one, not only for the family picnic, but for summer in general.

Trip to the Beach

This is another family activity that will be fun for everyone. You can pick between having a refreshing swim, playing bat and ball with the little one, or even just lying on the sand, with a good book, and relaxing. Again, be sure to pack toddler sandals, as the beach sand can get very hot, and even end up damaging your toddler’s feet, as they are still quite sensitive. Not only this, but the small broken shells, or broken glass, may cut their feet. Therefore, always be safe and pack in toddler sandals!

Another reason why you should ensure that your toddler has their sandals, is that there may be blue bottles or jelly fish lying on the shore break, meaning that if your child decides to go down to the water to get more wet sand for their sand castle, they may stumble upon one of these critters and get stung. Always be safe and put your toddler’s sandals on at the beach.

DIY Obstacle Course

Now this is one the kids will absolutely love! The best way to get your children outside and away from their iPad is by making up fun activities in the garden, or even in the driveway. What better way to get them out of the house than by making a DIY obstacle course for them? Again, just remember to bring along the toddler sandals, as the driveway may get very hot and burn their feet.

As you can see, there are many different activities for you and your family this summer. Just make sure that everyone’s feet are protected, especially your toddler in their sandals, as South Africa tends to get random heat waves, which could harm their sensitive little feet if they walk around barefoot on any hot ground.
