Back pains are a literally ‘pain in the back’ and with all the puns intended, these can be quite uncomfortable to say the least. Back issues get worse when you need to drive long hours in traffic to work and back home or even on a long road trip. If you suffer from back pains and back troubles while driving, here are a few tips that can help you out and reduce the pain in your back during your long drives –

Adjust The Seat Properly
It is very important to have the right seat angle when driving to reduce the strain on your legs, calves as well as your tail bone area. Ideally, 100-110 degrees is a good position of a slant for your seat that allows your back to rest a bit as you drive. A lot of people bend their seat to a 120 or even 130 degrees which is way too much of a slant that can cause issues of the spine and knees as well.

This angle also adds a slight bend to your legs and knees which is appropriate for driving without any issues at all. Accordingly, you can add a massage cushion if needed too but maintain this angle at all times for your back muscles to be relaxed throughout your drive.

Add a Good Cushion To The Seat
Cushions are an excellent way to give your back the right support in the curve. These days, there are a lot of different cushions for back issues right from back massage cushion to cooling seat cushion and so many other variations. These are perfect to add a nice cushioning to your back and also help to maintain the curvature of your spine.

Along with the right cushion, be sure to choose the right fabric for your cushion too. Leather or faux leather is a great option but can cause a lot of heat. Faux leather as well as polyester can make you sweet a lot and cause rashes on the back. Always opt for cotton covers on the cushions so that there is no extra heat in the back region to avoid discomfort.

Do Let Stretches Before Driving
If you have sciatic nerve issues or even knee pains, it is important to due a few quick stretches before you start your long drive to work or home. These stretches help to relieve the tension in the muscles and tissues and help you drive without any pain or excessive stretch of the area.

There are a lot of different cushions and massage pad for chair that you can choose to ensure that you have a nice massage right after your stretches too. This can make your drive a lot comfortable as well as relaxing!
