What Factors You Must Consider While Buying Mechanical Pressure Switches?

Posted by Noshok Mass Measure on December 13th, 2019

Mechanical pressure switches are a simple, affordable solution that requires single switch contacts. These switches perform reliably as long as they are carefully selected to meet the application's specific needs. Reliable and low cost are the mechanical pressure switches. And they meet the requirements of many different applications with the variety of options available. If you deal in machinery manufacturing industry then you must consider some factors while buying heavy duty mechanical pressure switch.

Here are some factors to consider include:

Medium and temperature

When determining the case material, wetted parts, and the sensor element, the medium and its temperature are critical. When the case and process connections are made of galvanized or stainless steel, mechanical pressure switches work well with most applications. Nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR) is a strong diaphragm material that operates with moderate temperatures and air or hydraulic oil for mechanical pressure switches. Ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber (EPDM) is safer when the medium is liquid. Rubber fluorosilicone (FVMQ) avoids higher temperatures.

Pressure

In vacuum and low-pressure applications, diaphragms perform well as sensor elements. To higher pressure ranges, pistons, generally made of stainless steel, are ideally suited.

Switching function

Mechanical pressure switches may act as normally open (NO) closing when they reach the switch point, as normally closed (NC) opening when they reach the preset point, or as a switch to another circuit at a lower or higher pressure (Single Pole, Double Throw or SPDT).

Switch point adjustment

At the factory, the switch point can be predetermined or adjusted on-site. For applications where system conditions, such as temperature and pressure, vary, an adjustable switching point is recommended.

Hysteresis

When the turn resets, hysteresis decides. The functions remain active for too long if the reset value is too large. The role will bounce between states if the reset value is too low.

Other factors

The other factors that also affect the decision of choosing the pressure are reproducability, electrical current and voltage rating, weather protection, vibration and shock resistance, mounting and process connections.

So, if you are going to buy the mechanical pressure switches, then you must search for them online. Browsing through the internet will get you more options to explore and best deals.
