Melanoma is a kind of skin cancer that can affect anybody. Like all other cancers, melanoma begins when a certain cell or cells start to develop uncontrollably so that they can enter other tissues and spread to other areas of the body. One doctor’s learned about melanoma they started an awareness campaign so that people could know about it and get themselves checked if they noticed anything untoward on their skin.

Doctor’s and volunteers started with skin safety programs and Skin Cancer Education for the community which included health fairs, school programs and other campaigns started by non-profit organizations.

Melanoma Charity

Melanoma Charity was started by professionals, public and patients to help people with melanoma and undertake research and education so that they could provide the information to patients, health professionals, and caregivers. Melanoma Charity and Melanoma Support started with a wide range of programs which included:

  • Commissioning of all kinds of melanoma research with studies on different patients
  • Having a Melanoma helpline
  • Providing the general public with accessible information about melanoma and also to caregivers and patients as well as updates about the melanoma cancer
  • Having campaigns for Skin Cancer Support in all over the UK
  • Arranging meetings every year on melanoma
  • Working with hospital trusts to collect and analyze data about melanoma cancer
  • Providing networking and educational resources to scientists, clinicians, and nurses

They also went around collecting funds to carry out various research programs.

Melanoma Education

Melanoma Research Foundation was started to help patients and caregivers with awareness about the dangers of melanoma, teaching them about prevention, treatment, diagnosis, side effects, progress in research and clinical trials. Advocates of melanoma are given training in-depth to support and participate in scientific, medical, and regulatory environments.

There are different types of melanomas like pediatric and AYA melanoma, cutaneous melanoma, preventing melanoma, mucosal melanoma, and ocular melanoma. It is not easy to understand melanoma and people do ask many questions like how it can be prevented. They also like to know how it can be diagnosed. They also want more information so they can keep themselves and their family safe.

Melanoma Fundraiser

People have come together to organize Melanoma Events and collect funds for melanoma research, education, and programs to save lives. You can join in any event you like maybe walks/runs to raise funds. If you want to have a fundraising party they will provide you with tips on pasta parties and galas.

People who like golf can join to have a golf fundraising event where funds raised can be used for melanoma treatment and research. Corporates can have a fundraising event at the workplace from penny wars to casual Fridays and the funds collected can be given to melanoma fundraiser.

Students in universities and colleges can organize car wash as a fundraiser for melanoma. With a little planning and promotion, the event can be a big success.
