DHT Hormone and Hair Loss

The average human scalp hair grows roughly about Hair Envy Review 1.25 cm (or half an inch) a month. This rate of growth is approximate, and does depend on each individual based on their health, mannerisms and ethnic background. The growth of human scalp hair is consistent throughout the head. Hair is found exclusively in mammals, and is made up of roughly 6 different and distinct layers. It grows from follicles found in the dermis layer of the skin and is found all over the human body with the exception of a few places, like the palms of the hands and soles of the feet. The dermal papilla is the portion of the follicle responsible for hair growth.

The cells divide to form new follicles which produce new hairs throughout the follicle's growth cycle, and therefore must lay in direct contact with the body's blood supply to obtain the nutrients required for this new hair growth. Due to its direct contact with the blood vessels, the dermal papilla is also susceptible to Androgens, which plug into the dermal papilla's receptors to regulate the hair growth cycle based on the sex of the individual and age. The dermal papillas of a man have more Androgen receptors than that of a woman, as men tend to produce more hair in adulthood. Men with above average number of, or more Androgen receptors, will be more likely to develop premature hair loss, or male pattern baldness, than their male counterparts sporting less receptors.
