Review: Wandernook Theater Presents "The Addams Family"

Posted by John Elia on December 23rd, 2019

The splendid, radiant and blistering Texas summer evening all of a sudden developed cold, dim and miserable as the cast of Wandernook Theater's generation of "The Addams Family" made that big appearance. Together, cast and group, under the heading of Amanda Durbin, revived one of our top pick, ghoulishly-horrifying families from the grave.

The melodic satire, "The Addams Family," with book by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elic and music and verses by Andrew Lippa, transports crowds to the faintly lit, spiderweb-clad, unpleasant Addams house. Here, 18-year old "Wednesday" Addams gets ready to have her adoration intrigue, "Lucas Beineke," and his salt-of-the-earth Ohio family, for an evening gathering where the youthful couples' folks will meet just because. The resulting pressure brings two immeasurably various universes impacting together in a delectably dull melodic comedic frolic.

In spite of the fact that "The Addams Family" is an intriguing decision for this season because of the ghastly subjects and ghoulish costuming which commonly goes with Halloween, in Wandernook's grasp, it conveys a generation important enough for any day of the year. The job of the pale, enthusiastic patriarch, "Gomez Addams," was all around performed by Mike Egan. His dynamic stage nearness, energized by swashbuckling energy and vocal ability, offered a genuine feature for this show.

The Addams' little girl, "Wednesday Addams," performed by the gifted Kristen Purvis presented ground-breaking and lovely vocal ability alongside entertaining portrayal, boosting the general creation. Her collaboration with genuine love intrigue, Matt Purvis, who plays out the job of "Lucas Beineke," was balanced. "Wednesday's" sibling, the viciously naughty, "Pugsley Addams," was capably enlivened in Caleb McCoulskey's clear stage nearness and noteworthy vocal ability.

"Alice's" spouse, "Mal," accomplished extraordinary things in the hands of George Phillips III. He was absolutely persuading as a separated spouse and father who overlooked his childhood and the sentiment he once treasured with his significant other. Phillips expertly explored his character's change from wore out to getting overwhelmed with emotion fire.

The dynamic troupe of the "Progenitors" summoned some chilling movement and shockingly energizing vocals as envisioned by the gifted melodic chief, Jared Duncan. In spite of the fact that the commended red hot sentiment among "Gomez" and "Morticia" didn't exactly interpret on the stage, and the cast and team had to control through awful specialized glitches, Wandernook's "The Addams Family" was brimming with enough satire and vocal ability to engage fans anxious to push toward the carefree murkiness.  The Addams Family Tickets Discount Coupon
