How Can The Brown Spots On Skin Develop? When Should You See a Doctor?

Most of you must have observed brown spots over your skin. Some people get them on hands, some on legs some at other parts of the body. You may not see them when you are very young. The brown spots are visible when people start aging. It is mostly seen among people who have crossed 50 years of age. But, there are times when people get spots at a very young age. That can be due to some medical issues. The brown spots on skin can take place due to liver problems.

When to visit a doctor?

Normally, the spots which lie on the skin and stay for a long time are not harmful at all. Also, it is not needed to show the doctor as well. But, if you see some signs it is important to consult a doctor immediately. Following are the situations when you need to see a doctor:

  • When you see that the spots are rapidly increasing
  • You see it is getting pigmented and becoming much darker
  • Has very unusual when it comes to color combination
  • You can feel your skin tenderness
  • Itching of that portion over your skin
  • You can see a regular border over it
  • The redness and bleeding with the brown spots on  skin

The risk factors

It is quite likely for anyone irrespective of the gender or the age to have the development of such brown spots on the skin. But, the risk factors lie for the following type of people:

  • Those who are extremely exposed to sunlight and get sunburns on a repeated way
  • One who has a light color of skin and red hair type
  • People with the family history of brown spots on  skin
  • Individuals crossing 45-50 years of age

How to prevent it?

If you wish not to get the brown spots on skin there are some precautions which you must abide with. Following is the list:

ü  Use of sunscreen- The sunburn can be one of the factors to get such ugly spots over your skin. Thus, the best thing that you can do to avoid it will be the application of strong sunscreen lotion before going out in sunlight.

ü  Stay away between 10 am to 2 pm- This is the time when the sunlight becomes too intense. Thus, it is always better if you can avoid this time. Try to restrict outdoor activities during this time

ü  Proper cover-up- If you at all have to get out in sunlight, always try to cover the maximum portion of your skin.  The harmful UV rays can easily damage your skin. Try to cover your legs, arms, hands and even your face. Only the eyes will be kept open. If you can do this, avoiding the impact of the brown spots on the skin will be easy.

Mostly the spots are not dangerous. But, it is always better to see a doctor at the right time. If you can see the physician and treat it at an initial phase then noting will be a serious matter of concern.
