A motor skill is basically an action that includes your baby using his muscles.

When your kid is doing larger movements using his arms, feet, legs, or his entire body then it is known as Gross motor skills. So running, crawling, and jumping are gross motor skills. Kids Play School  indulges kids into such activities so that they grow well.

How do Motor Skills Develop?

We gain from head to toe, beginning as babies. Our upper body muscle control leads the lower body muscle control. As babies develop, they initially build up control in their trunk and afterward they develop in their control of their wrist, elbow, and fingers. The same process goes for the lower body. Control from the hips is initial, at that point control in the feet, legs, and toes.

After that what comes is manipulation of toys with hands and fingers. Have you ever seen that a kid bends their tongue or feet in the beginning of drawing with a crayon? Its due to this they are gaining new skills and it comes out from a complete body involvement.

Parents often give preference to one side. For instance, children may choose to throw a ball with either hand, however, they build up a preference in which hand use to throw. Kids for the most part do different experiment with both sides of the body until a preference is made.

What’s next? After they've learned their body, they tend to develop strength in their bodies. Preschoolers (ages 3-5) require lots of opportunities to do movement! That is the manner by which they learn and develop.

Gross motor movements are divided into 3 ways:

1. Locomotor activity — movement from one place to another. Examples: walking, climbing, running, leaping, jumping, galloping, hopping, sliding, and skipping.

2. Non locomotor activity — movement in an immobile place. Examples: pushing, bending, pulling, stretching, turning, twisting, swinging, rising, swaying, and falling.

3. Manipulative skills — moving objects in a different ways. Examples: kicking, throwing, striking, and catching.

Why Are Gross Motor Skills Important?

Developing gross motor skills enable a kid to build up confidence and strength in his/her body. It additionally encourages them get exercise as well as physical activity, which is significant for a good lifestyle. Building up these skills encourages a kid’s ability to gain more complex abilities in future activities.

At ASPAM Preschool, our Best Preschool in Noida, we have organized several activities to give kids better experience and learning that leads to their skills development from physical to mental.
