Waffle Mats And Their Usages

Waffle Mats or two-way slabs whatever you may call it is a mat made out of rubber. The name waffle came from the grid pattern created by the reinforcing ribs. A waffle mat is flat on top but the surface is made out of boxes like grids. The grid is made by removing the moulds after the rubber sets. This structure is destined to be extra solid when used on longer spans and with heavy loads. This type of mats is recommended because of their rigidity. They are very useful in laboratories, manufacturing facilities, cinema halls, theatres because they are anti-vibration. 

The construction process of the anti-vibration pads:

A waffle slab or anti-vibration pads can be made in various ways but the typical generic way is the primary step to give the pads the grid shape. The waffle moulds are made out of many things such as waffle pods, horizontal support, vertical support, cube junctions, hole plates, clits and steel rods. The supports are built at first then the pods are arranged then lastly the Waffle Pads mixtures which is the rubber mixture is poured into the frame. Depending on the purpose the quantity or the size of the slabs may vary. 

Advantages of using Anti-vibration pads:

• Bigger spans can be achieved by using less amount of raw materials that make it cost-effective and eco-friendly.

• The form can be also made out of woods, concrete, steel etc.
• If the holes of the grids are placed between the ribs of the building then the maintenance could be done through the gaps. This special implementation is called the hole deck.

Disadvantages of using Anti-vibration pads:

Though there are some disadvantages as well of using the Anti-vibration pads the advantages are way more useful than the disadvantages are. 

• To make Anti Vibration Pads India larger amount of formworks are needed and that can be very costly sometimes. Buying the raw materials and making the frame yourself is the cheaper option so next time opt for the raw materials and make the frame rather than buying it. 
• Waffle slabs are thicker than normal pads or slabs so keep in mind to increase the ceiling height while constructing the building so that the slabs get enough space to work their magic and also you don't have to face any problem regarding the maintenance.
