Posted by Linda Hudson on January 3rd, 2020

As soon as the winter gets over, families start going out from inside huddled around the fire to enjoy the warm sunny weather outside. While being in the sunshine feels wonderful, why not make your home feel like one, like a summer oasis? Here are the three best tips that will surely make your home summer-ready:

Bright Colours

Your home can easily get that beachy vibe just by incorporating bright colours and cotton fabric printing into your decor. You can focus on each room, each space and do some quick & easy exchanges in the fabrics, prints, colours to make it feel brand new and ready for the summer heat.

In the living room, you can put away those heavy throws and replace them with vibrant accent cushions on your couches. For your bedroom, you can go for brighter paintings on the walls, they look amazing. It is suggested to use paintings that are prominent with light blues, greens, and pinks instead of going for the darker colours. For your kitchen, you can always change out your white or tan dinnerware with those accent bowls and plates that have bright blues or greens. Also, don’t forget your bathroom it is again a great place to incorporate decorations with seashells, or you can also bring in those ocean vibes, by using rope or bamboo baskets for your towels and laundry.

Less Clutter

One thing that you should be doing this summer is decluttering. Try and remove all the heavy & dark decorations from your spaces. During the winters, these accents make your place feel cosy and inviting. But during summers, they weigh down space & make it feel suffocated. Therefore, it is suggested that go through your entire home and put away all that winter decorations, and while doing this, you may even find some older items you can dispose of or donate.

Incorporate Plants and Flowers

When it will get too hot to go outside, why not bring those natural plants & vibrant flowers inside with you? Incorporating plants and flowers will not only brighten up your home and make it feel more breathable in the summer but also several studies have been conducted for proving the positive health benefits of having indoor plants. In fact, some studies have concluded that having potted plants indoors could help in increasing productivity and improving your overall well-being.
