A remake of the Salamn Khan starrer Hindi movie Ready, Uthamaputhiran is a Tamil movie that is based on the romantic genre. Starring Dhanush and Genelia D’Souza, the movie is loosely based on the storyline of comedy of errors. The case of a mistaken identity, the film revolves around the chaos that follows when a wrong girl is kidnapped from a marriage hall.
