Gout Prevention - Foods You Can EatPosted by Hadriel Sam on January 6th, 2020 My introduction to gout in something other than a textbook Joint Pain Hack Review came at the crack of dawn one morning. My husband's foot was red, swollen and he couldn't handle even the bed sheet touching it. Walking was next to impossible, and even thinking about socks and shoes was out of the question. When we got to the doctor's office, we began our education on the topic. To my surprise, one of the things the doctor told him to do was drink cherry juice. The usefulness of it wasn't the surprise, that a doctor would recommend a home remedy was the shocker. He did, we did and it worked. The doctor also gave us a list of foods to avoid in order to prevent future attacks. As we are already on a low sodium, low fat diet, this made the list of things we could eat a lot shorter. The good news is, there is a list of things we can eat. Protein: This is an important part of a gout friendly diet, as most forms of protein contain purines...a substance that forms uric acid in the body. This is true of all proteins, but some have less than others. For instance, lean beef, pork or white meat chicken contain only slightly more than vegetable proteins like beans. You have to keep the portions small, but these foods can still be eaten. Like it? Share it!More by this author |
