Why Your TSH is Fluctuating - The Proper Method

1. What time of the day are you taking your medication  Thyroid Support Review The best time to take your thyroid medication is first thing in the morning (at least four hours after your last food and one hour before). If you simply can't take your thyroid medication then - find a consistent time to take it (again with the same food restrictions). It is important to take the medication the same time every day.

2. Have you started a higher fiber diet Fiber affects the absorption of your thyroid medication. Consistency is the key here. If you continue your high fiber diet, then get your TSH tested again. Stick with the same amount of fiber every day. Consistency is the key.

3. Have you started taking a calcium (or iron) supplement If you have, do not take the supplement with your thyroid medication. Both of these supplements can reduce the absorption of your medication. Calcium supplements should be taken at least six hours either before or after your medication. As far as iron supplements go, take them at least four hours before or after your thyroid medication. (Special tip - watch out for multi-vitamins with minerals and pre-natal vitamins - both contain iron.)
