Have A Seat - If You Want To HURT Your Back!

Some of the worst things you could do for your back is to sit down, drive your car, work at your desk or go to the gym.

These are among the most common activities we participate in from day to day, but going about our daily routines can cause serious back pain if we are not conscious of how we move.

At any given time, more that 6.5 million Americans are enduring serious back pain. And second only to headaches, back pain is the most common disorder causing lost job productivity.

Back aches are not the only problem stemming from poor posture. Other warning signs of incorrect posture include: stiff neck, protruding abdomen, stooped shoulders, double chin, thick waistline or more...

Getting into the habit of good posture can be as easy as sitting down. Practice this technique: when seating yourself in a chair, lean forward slightly at the waist and lower yourself into the chair gently. Always sit with your feet on the floor. 40% of your weight should be in the feet and 60% in the sit bones or buttocks. Bring your shoulders back and down and relax your neck. Elongate your spine and position your ears over your shoulders.

Sitting correctly will get you into the habit of practicing good posture and will also assist in strengthening the muscles of the abdomen, chest and neck. Proper posture will also help alleviate slumping shoulders, help your breathe easier and best of all--reduce the stress on areas of your back which are the cause of most back pain.
