How to improve your presentation skills when on a video camera?

Posted by jaquesmontegolifier on January 14th, 2020

It can be tricky to make a presentation. Every individual does not have a natural talent to do that. Even those who speak in front of the audience regularly may be anxious. We're not, after all, used to communicating on specific topics. This is where the presentation skills training course comes into the picture. Before giving a presentation, they make sure they give you some tips and tricks.

Such tricks will help you to look real and comfortable. It's for sure-fire that at first, you won't be good at it. Businesses also have their offices overseas; hence video conferences have become standard practice. A part of media training is also video coaching. But in no time, you can become fluent in front of the camera with practice and perseverance. Some tips are as follows:

•    Pay attention to your body language: Make sure to be balanced everything. This is especially true about how you interact on camera using your body language. Do not hold your hands in your pocket or stick them to your side. Don't be rigid. Don't swing either. Reduce the motions of your hand to a minimum. Also important is the head movement and the movement should be restricted. You don't want to shake your head back and forth and go out of the picture.

•    Breathe and stay focused: Do not take stress as with enough practice; it will become easier. Before looking at the camera, pause and take some time to collect yourself. Pause and take some time to receive yourself before you look at the camera. Make sure you don't hold your breath. It will help you remain relaxed and concentrated by breathing.

•    Maintain your pace: It becomes easier after you've spent enough time doing the breathing exercise. A relaxed, informal approach to do the video presentation may be suitable. However, the conversational speed is not. Speak a bit slower to make sure you don't mumble.

•    Follow tonality: A video call should be delivered in a formal voice several times, but it should not be monotonous. Bring in your voice a certain dynamism. A relaxed, chatty voice should help

•    Look friendly: Do look smile when facing the camera but not too much. Avoid grinning a full ear and do not show your teeth while facing the camera. Be happy and relaxed. It will improve your video to a great extent. Media training will ask you to consider the camera as the target audience. Try to be healthy.

•    Do not stare: This is obvious, but do not get stressed over it. You may end up blinking a lot or staring a lot halfway through your video. Moreover, your eyes may look red, which is not a good sign.

•    Be prepared: Understanding what you are talking about is the last part of looking confident in front of the camera. Once you are confident in your idea, you are instantly relaxed and confident. You will be less stressed as well. You do not need to byheart the script, of course, but practice it in the bullet points. This works for presentations. Media training makes you confident and faces the camera with zero nervousness.
