CITIZENSHIP OF POLAND

I'm a foreigner, my husband is a Polish citizen. We live abroad. Can I obtain Polish citizenship and what conditions should I apply for?

Marriage with a Polish citizen is not a sufficient basis for citizenship. To obtain citizenship, a foreigner must fulfill the conditions of legal and continuous (permanent) residence in Poland. A foreigner can be recognized as a Polish citizen if he or she has been married to a Polish citizen for at least 3 years and has been a resident in Poland for at least two years, and knowledge of Polish is documented. In order to obtain a permanent residence permit, you need to obtain a temporary residence permit with a Polish citizen.

You will only be granted a temporary or permanent residence permit if you plan to reside in Poland and not in another country.

Polish citizenship may also be granted by the President of the Republic of Poland. The resolutions of the President of the Republic of Poland are not limited to any conditions which a foreigner must fulfill. This means that the President of the Republic of Poland may grant Polish citizenship to any person, regardless of his or her residence in Poland. The process of granting Polish citizenship by the President of the Republic of Poland can be lengthy, as the provisions of the Administrative Code do not apply in this case. This means that even if your facts are sufficient to grant Polish citizenship, the decision will not be taken immediately, as is the case with a Polish citizen. The person applying for Polish citizenship must substantiate his / her request and present a significant reason which should be the basis for granting Polish citizenship. eVisitor Visa Australia

I plan to apply for recognition as a Polish citizen, substantiating it for two years of lawful and continuous residence in Poland.

How do the authorities verify the continuity of residence if there are no entry and exit stamps in my passport?

If you plan to apply for recognition as a Polish citizen by justifying him to two years of lawful and continuous residence in Poland, we would inform you that the residence is considered lawful and uninterrupted if the breaks within the required two-year period were no more than 6 months in total Not more than 10 months. When submitting the application, you will provide written evidence of all the entry and exit dates for that period. In case of not remembering specific dates, written evidence of that fact is also required and approximate dates are indicated.

In addition, the Voivodeship Department will apply to the Border Guard Services for information about your traffic. If your residence is longer than 10 months outside Poland, the decision to recognize you as a Polish citizen can be negative.

I am a Polish citizen, my child was born abroad. How can my child obtain Polish citizenship?

If one of the parents is a Polish citizen, the child obtains Polish citizenship irrespective of his or her birthplace. To establish the Polish citizenship of a child, you need to register his / her foreign birth certificate with your last place of residence in the Polish Civil Status Office. This can be done directly in Poland or by using the services of the Polish consulate abroad, but in this case, the process is longer. know more about visa
