Education has undergone waves of changes over the past years. Gone are the days when the marks a student scores in a written examination would be the measuring rod of the student’s proficiency and competency in the subject. Practical application of the knowledge acquired is being heralded as the new rod of measuring one’s ability and skill in a subject. This is reflected in the curriculum of the bachelor’s degree in business management and the assessment methods followed by most universities today. The curriculum is so designed as to involve training in real-life scenarios, and the students are assessed based on how well they manage the various scenarios. This includes projects, assignments, paper presentations, teamwork, etc. all of which are required in the management of a business.

Intensive and thorough training

A bachelor’s degree in business management is typically spread across two years. Over the course of two years, the following subjects are primarily taught. Firstly, accounting and its principles. Both the theory and application of the various principles related to financial accounting are dealt with under this head. Secondly, business law. This basically involves a primary study of the laws generally applicable to businesses like contract law. It also addresses several ethical questions that might arise in the course of work. Thirdly, marketing. This deals with the various marketing strategies prevalent and includes the study of buying behaviour of customers and market research. Fourthly, the management of human resources. This part is extensive as it deals with everything to do with HR, including the policies of the company and the nation, the work environment, redressal mechanisms, etc. Finally, project management. This section is an operative area and gives students an idea about the various management roles in an organization, how they function and are inter-related. By the time you procure a bachelor’s degree in business management, you would be thoroughly equipped to take on any managerial role.

Stay ahead of the race

It goes without saying that a managerial role is what most people desire to have. Given the competition, a degree in business management will set you ahead of the race and help increase your employability. Recruiters specifically look for and choose people trained in the basics of business management. The training you receive as part of the course will help you crack job interviews and get those coveted roles.

A portal to a world of opportunities

A business management graduate is eligible for numerous jobs including that of a business analyst, account manager, financial manager, marketing manager and sales manager. The role of a business analyst is to analyze the data related to procedures and problems that arise in the business and to prepare plans that help deal with problems better. Account managers work in close proximity with clients and develop the budgets for the financial year. A financial analyst deals with the investments of the company and forecasts the financial status of the company based on the market conditions. A marketing manager is responsible for identifying a product that sells and a sales manager is responsible for the advertising strategies the company adopts.
