How to Use WiFi Analyzer

Posted by Olof Mattsson on January 22nd, 2020

Modern homes can no longer be called ‘modern’ if they do not have a WiFi router. If there is at least one WiFi router in almost every home, it is pretty easy for the WiFi radio spectrum to get cluttered. 2.4GHz frequency band is the most common band wireless routers use to transmit data. This band is divided into 11 channels which theoretically should be enough but in reality it is not. Since wireless routers come with a default transmission band, most people never change these default configurations resulting in a situation of too many wireless routers transmitting data on the same channel.
The best way to find the less crowded channels for your router is through WiFi analysis. This analysis is performed by a wireless network analyzer which reveals the WiFi channels being used the least. A network analyzer can also provide plenty of information necessary for comprehensive WiFi optimization. WiFi analysis is not too much work if only you use a good WiFi analyzer app.
There are many WiFi analyzer apps but the best is Netspot which is excellent for WiFi Analysis. Netspot is usable for analysis and troubleshooting on macOS and Windows.
