How to Successfully take wedding Photographs

Nowadays every couple has a wedding photoshoot on their list. However, not everything is easy when it comes to wedding photography, you can’t just take your DSLR and start “shooting” anywhere and everywhere. You have to find the perfect locations, the correct angles, and making the groom & bride feel comfortable.

Try to avoid Crowded Places

You should always try to avoid crowded places as much as you can. This is so because, first it makes the already nervous couple more nervous, second you really don’t need prying eyes to disturb your Zen, especially when you are preparing a shot.

It also applies to anyone who accompanies you, unless he or she is a photographer assisting you. This will only lead to bad shots when the couple gets conscious of other people staring at them.

Make the Couple look Good

People nowadays are really critical of how they look. So, it doesn’t matter that you have chosen a magnificent place with a view that makes someone stop and look if you make the couple look unflattering. So, always make sure that you are shooting from the angles which compliment the couple and enhances their features. You can always direct the camera at the eye level of the subjects as a safe option. However, if you keep your camera a little above the subject’s eye level, it will highlight their facial features easily. A general tip would be instead of using straight angles, use tilted angles for full body shots.

The backlight as a way for Dramatic Shots

Dramatic shots are hard to master, and using backlights is even harder. So, you need a lot of training to get it right. However, once you have got it right, nothing can stop you from taking those magnificent dramatic shots. You can put your subjects in front of the source of light, which in turn will create a beautiful shade of light that outlines the couple. This also puts the focus on them.

However, make sure you have a light source on your hand. It can be the natural sunlight or bulbs, or you can even use the camera’s flash as an option.

Breaking the Awkwardness

The awkwardness that people go through is obvious on their faces. And it is especially so when they are posing for hours with the camera pointed at them. So, when you are taking photos, it becomes evident in the photos.

You can avoid this by easing the tension during the photo shoot. You can also make jokes to make them relaxed. That’s why the point “Having a Conversation with the Couple” given above is so important.

Timing of the Shoot

Most of the photographers, they shoot whenever they want and edit the rest. This shouldn’t be so. The ideal time for taking the shots would in the morning when the light is just right, or in the early evening when the sun is setting down and you get that slight red/orangish light.

Being on Time for the Shoot

It is not necessarily a tip, but an essential etiquette for every photographer out there who is trying to make a living. People say time is money, it is the truth. Timing is everything, for you as well as your shots. By timing for you, I mean the time when you reach the place where you are going to conduct your photoshoot. It doesn’t matter if the couple is late (some couple always are), after all, they are paying you. However, you should never be late and give them a reason to cut your pay. This way, even if they are late, you will be on time to start the photoshoot. Know more daayri

A personal tip: If the couple turns up late to the photoshoot, don’t extend your time frame for conducting the shoots out of kindness. You are not doing the job for free.

Wedding has gained quite a popularity over the years. The same goes for the photography that is associated with it. It has not only become a lucrative business for the photographers but has also taken the people by storm.
