Aeronautical Engineering is a form of science that involves the study, designing and manufacturing of machines which are capable of flying or techniques relating to aircraft operations.

Candidates pursuing this course are trained to design, construct, analyse and test commercial or military aircrafts, spacecrafts and missiles. These engineers are vested with the responsibility of designing, researching and producing aircrafts, spacecrafts, satellites, aerospace equipment and even missiles. They are also entitled to develop and formulate new technologies in departments like space exploration, commercial aviation and defence systems.

The role of aeronautical engineers also involve keeping a check and and improvement on fuel efficiency, flight safety, reducing system costs, maintaining speed and weight of the aircrafts and also checking upon the environmental impact of air travel.

A graduation in Aeronautical Engineering would make a candidate pro in manufacturing and development of aircrafts and missiles. This would easily fetch them opportunities in the manufacturing and designing of aircraft manufacturing units, defence services and research and development organizations. This in turn would raise job availabilities for them in the Civil Aviation Department, Aeronautical Development Establishment, Helicopter Corporation of India, Defence Research and Development Laboratories and so on.

Scholarships for Aeronautical Engineering are available for candidates under the scholarship programme for higher education in India. However, to be eligible for a scholarship, the candidate should appear for AIEESE (Secondary). Merit based scholarships are awarded to students who intend to pursue their undergraduate degrees in India. The primary aim of this program is to boost extremely meritorious students to opt for academic excellence, especially to those belonging to the financially weaker sections of the society. Such candidates are expected to appear for a Scholarship Exam for Aeronautical Engineering to be able to be selected for an undergraduate degree under the scholarship program of AIEESE.

The award for the scholarship is the tuition fees, up to full four years tuition fees, for the students’ undergraduate course. However, students acquiring 85% above in their AIEESE examinations would be given full 4 years waiver for their tuition fees, those having acquired marks between 75% to 85% would get tuition fee of 1 year as reward while those below 75% marks would get a standard laptop as reward for the same. This award is extended strictly on the basis of merit.

Aspiring candidates for JEE can apply for AIEESE secondary if they wish to acquire scholarship for the same. However, they need to clear both JEE and AIEESE secondary in order to avail of the scholarship benefits. The scholarships would be extended on the grounds of marks acquired by them in AIEESE secondary and after having gotten admitted in IIT/NIT through JEE. The proof of admission, along with all documents need to be submitted in due course of time to AIEESE.

AIEESE (Secondary) is one such platform that opens a whole new world of opportunities to deserving candidates who cannot afford the hefty fee structures of advanced courses in the field of Aeronautical Engineering.
