Why is earthing necessaryPosted by Raman Mishra on January 28th, 2020 Earthing protects our electrical equipment and humans in case of failure or accidental short circuit. When the live wire touches the earth wire, a large current flows through it and causes the fuse to blow away or the circuit breaker and thereby protect the equipment as well as the users. The third pin of the electric iron plug is for earthing. The metal body of the electric iron is connected to this pin that's related to the earthing wire. If the live wire comes in contact with the metal body in any way, the earthing wire will allow current to flow into the ground. Thus, to protect the user from electric shock. So earthing is necessary for human life. Why Earthing is necessary Earthing is the process of flow of excessive amount of fault current of the electrical energy directly into the ground with the help of the low resistance wire is called earthing. The electrical earthing is done by connecting the non-current carrying part of the equipment or neutral of the supply system to the ground. It helps in the dissipation of the excessive amount of fault current directly into the ground, and ensure safety. Earthing is very necessary because of the following reasons:
