Posted by Jenny Rinn on January 28th, 2020

What if you have chosen its TV services and now you have your TV, Dish, Dish receiver and cables. Now all that is left for you is to call the professional installer and get the setup done. Windstream offers professional installation with all its TV packages but imagine, for some reason you have chosen to self install it yourself. So what will you do now? How will you do the installation yourself? This article will help you complete the installation process all by yourself.

Pre-requirements For Connecting A Dish

In the first step in the installation process, you must make sure that the TV is in the right place. Changing the location or moving it after the setup is done can cause a lot of hassle. After you choose the placement of the TV, now you need to decide where you will fix your dish. You can either fix it on the roof or the sidewall or the ground. If you want to place it on the ground, then it should be on a mounted stand. You should make sure that the dish is facing towards a side that is free from any obstruction. It should ideally face a side that does not have any trees, tall buildings or any power lines. Keeping the dish free from any sort of obstruction improves network connectivity.

Connecting The Satellite Dish To The TV

After the dish has been placed in an obstruction-free location, now you will need to connect the satellite dish to the TV. Now you will have to make use of the cables that you were given after you bought the TV. You get two cable- coaxial cable and HDMI cable. Below are a few simple steps that you need to follow to connect the satellite dish to the TV.

  • You need to connect one end of the coaxial cable at the back of your satellite dish labeled as 'LNB.'

  • Now you will have to connect the other end of the coaxial to the satellite receiver in the port labeled as 'Sat In.'

  • After the above two steps, you need to connect one end of the HDMI cable to the 'Output' port at the back of the satellite.

  • Now plug the other end of the HDMI cable in the HDMI present on your TV. Nowadays TV comes with more than one HDMI port. Therefore you must choose the right HDMI port.

  • Switch on your TV and press the satellite button on the remote. If everything is connected properly then you will instantly start receiving the signals. But, if the signal is weak you should consider repositioning the dish.

After following these steps you can instantly connect your dish to the satellite TV.
