To master change, you must learn, unlearn and relearnPosted by MichealH Alexander on January 28th, 2020 The world is changing faster then ever before, and to be successful we must change with it. The House of Change is a great tool for understanding change: where we are now, and how to move forward towards success. This process is modelled on a house, literally a House of Change. Each room has a label: room of confusion, room of denial, room of renewal. We can think of ourselves moving around the House of Change, experiencing different emotions, facing different challenges, moving through doors and up steps, until we find ourselves in the room of contentment. It’s a great tool to help you and your team make sense of change and find your way to success! As you’re moving through the House of Change you’ll need to learn and improve. But these days learning is not enough. You’ll need to learn, unlearn, relearn. Because the world is changing so fast, some of what we have learnt previously is no longer true, we need to unlearn. And to prepare ourselves for the future, we need to relearn. This is the cycle of learn, unlearn, relearn. As Alvin Tofler said: “The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot Learn Unlearn Relearn.” Change is not always smooth and steady. Sometimes our world experiences what is known as a strategic inflection point. This is a ‘tipping’ point, when some of what we have previously know changes suddenly and dramatically. Many people today believe that our climate is facing a strategic inflection point, where what we have previously know will soon change dramatically and irreversibly. If you face a strategic inflection point in your life, you’ll need to work extra hard to embrace the opportunity to learn, unlearn, relearn and find success in our changing world. Explore these tools and use them on your journey and you’ll be sure to find success! Like it? Share it!More by this author |
