For this reason, it is understandable that you want to acquire some information about both of them before you make a choice. In this article you will find the difference in the process of installing them and what responsibilities you will have from then on for the well-being of your oral health.

What Are the Differences Between the Installation Process of Dental Veneers and Dental Crowns?

The time needed for the installation of a porcelain crown is very short. You only need two appointments to be done with it and the same is needed for  dental veneers  as well. The second one is necessary mainly because the crown will be custom made. In the first appointment, the measure of your teeth will be taken. It will be used to make a crown that will completely mold on your teeth. Another process that will be taken care of in the first session is the preparation of the teeth that need to be covered and a temporary crown will be used to protect it until yours is ready.

The process of installing the veneers is different mostly because the time needed for their production can be longer. The majority of the other work is very similar. In the first appointment, your teeth will be prepared for the installation and a temporary solution will be used for their protection. The biggest difference between these solutions is the role of their usage and the process of repair. Veneers can break much easier and will only be repaired with plastic while the crown can fall easier and you need to go and recement dental crown. From this point of view, it is more advantageous to use the crown because it is much harder to break, although the veneers have their own advantages, for example, a more impressive aesthetic. In any case, you must know what issues may appear and how they are solved.

When Do You Need to Recement Dental Crown and What Problems Can Appear While Using These Solutions?

Problems encountered while using a crown:

- Fall off. One of the most encountered problems by people using a crown is the fact that they can fall off. This can happen for different reasons and you need to make an appointment with your dentist because he will find out the cause and solution. If it is possible, he will  recement dental crown  but sometimes that can’t be done and you may need a new one. If it is only loose and has not fallen yet then you should still go to a dentist so that he can prevent the need for a new one.

- Chip. Another problem you could encounter while using a crown made from porcelain is the fact that if you do not take care of it and what you eat, there is a chance that it could chip. Depending on the gravity of the situation the chip may be temporarily repaired without the need for a new crown. But you must keep in mind that this is only a temporary solution and in a relatively short amount of time, you will certainly need another one.

Dental veneers can also have these two problems. What differs between them is the solution. If your porcelain veneers break, they can be repaired by using a plastic compound. In the short term, there will not be any problem but in the long run, the bonding between the plastic and porcelain will loosen and this will create a discrepancy between that tooth and the others. For this reason, it is indicated to listen to everything that your dentist tells you. Information like what can you do and what you can’t do with them. Sometimes veneers could fall off as well but most of the time they can be easily bonded again.
