5 Tips To Tackle Your Food Cravings Smartly

Posted by Peter Barron on January 30th, 2020

Trust me when I say I have myself been there!

When I began exercising at first, I craved for every possible mouth-watering food you can think of-pizzas, chips, burger, popcorn, etc. Firstly, I don’t believe any food is unhealthy. Cravings are natural, but I will get this sorted for you in the blog. As I have mentioned BALANCE is the key. This is probably something you already know but I will keep highlighting that. It works best with nutrition. Achieving balance is hard as you may still end up craving for a chocolate or a dessert. Well, today I am going to share the smartest ways to handle food cravings and staying fit.

1. Eating should also have routines:

After experimenting with different styles, I know that around 2,500 to 3,000 calories per day works best. You can analyze your calorie requirements. Check the calorie content in food and eat limited calories. Understand the importance calories in fitness first as they play a vital role. Then, balance your diet accordingly. For example, you can include chocolates on Monday. Then, on Tuesdays, you can choose one of your favorite cheese pizzas or whatever you like. Make things work like this.

2. Keep stomach satisfied:

Cravings usually occur when you are hungry or in need of energy. Hunger is one of the major reasons for cravings. When you are on your diet, ensure you satisfy your hunger. Having your stomach full gives you energy. It reduces cravings too. Hence, I recommend not to compromise with your stomach needs. Like me, you can have meals in small portions several times a day.

3. Healthy can be delicious too:

I discovered tasty snacks which are also healthy. Some of them are falafel balls with yoghurt or blueberry scones; these are tasty and healthy. They also provide good nutrition value.

If you love to eat desserts, it is likely you crave for sweet dishes often. This temptation can be settled by naturally sweet foods. These are also low on calories. Delicious berry smoothies or fruit popsicles with cream are a few.

4. Treats are not cheats:

It is necessary that your brain and body both remains happy. It keeps you fit. I never suggest avoiding your favorite food. Treat yourself on a regular basis! You can plan your diet routine in such a way that you fulfil your desires once a week. This helps you to control your cravings.

5. Lit moods help:

Bad moods result in food cravings. Try to appreciate your little achievements. This may include enhancing the weights for your reps or avoiding your favorite dessert for a week. This keeps your spirits high and emotionally balanced.

Even after you follow all the tips, it is possible that you overeat or unbalance your calories. Being a fitness trainer, I must say, first, stop feeling bad! You haven’t committed a crime! You have just overeaten a bit and that can be balanced smartly. I along with all the fitness professionals would advise to avoid overeating. Don’t worry, I will tell you what to do!

Walk! Yes, simply walk just after you consume more calories. Drink a lot of water. Don’t skip your breakfast. It is an important meal. Don’t avoid, just lighten your breakfast compared to your routine. Then get back to your diet plan at the earliest.

Cravings are natural and must be satisfied. Now that you know they can be handled in a healthy way; you can smartly manage your food. I will suggest you read a few eBooks on healthy living. This will help you maintain a better diet. Not to mention, our online health counselling services are always at your side.
