LOWER ZAMBEZI


In the Lower Zambesi Valley, more or less from the confluence of the Kafua River to the tributaries of the Luangwa, is the Lower Zambesi National Park, opposite the famous Mana Pools Reserve in Zimbabwe, so the whole area both River sides is a great wildlife sanctuary. This isolated and exotic park offers a great variety of fauna and birds in a spectacular environment on one of the largest rivers in the world. It is the new park of Zambia, as such, it is relatively underdeveloped, but beauty is in its natural state.

The diversity of animals is not as wide as that of other large parks, but the opportunities to approach the animals that roam In and out of the Zambezi canals are spectacular. The park is located


SOUTH LUANGWA


The first and most important National Park in the country is the South Luangwa National Park, (9,050 km.) Located in a valley with the same name, characterized by an ecosystem of different lagoons on the banks of the river that represent the ideal habitat for lots of animal species, some unique in the world, such as the Thornicroft Giraffe.

The fauna of the South Luangwa Valley is among the most abundant in the world. On the plain you will see large herds of elephants, which can count to 70 copies. Buffaloes are abundant and are found throughout the valley.

The hippo is one of those animals that is impossible not to see. Crossing the bridge, to enter the park, there are usually between 30 and 70 hippos that live in the river water. It is estimated that there are at least 50 hippos per km² on the Luangwa River. Zebras can also be admired while walking in packs of 12 animals. The Thornicroft giraffe, which is found only in this park, is easy to spot.


LIVINGSTONE
The country's former colonial capital is today a quiet city that lives by the tourism of Victoria waterfalls, one of the seven wonders of the world. The area offers different activities, such as elephant safari and helicopter excursions over waterfalls, or rafting.


LUSAKA
It is the capital of Zambia and was founded in 1905 by European settlers in the place of a town that was named after its chief, Lusaaka. Due to its central location in the country, in 1935 it replaced Livingstone as the capital of the British colony of Northern Rhodesia.
