When does GST payment need to be made?

As per section 12 and 13 of the GST Act, the taxpayer is needed to pay GST on goods or services at the time of their supply. The supply time as per the GST Act is usually the earliest of the three suppliers, receiving payment, issuance of invoice or completion of supply.

Process of GST payment online

Here is a step-by-step process that will help you make GST payment online-

Step 1 - Login to the GST Portal (www.gst.gov.in). Enter valid your username, password, and Captcha code.

Step 2 - Once you log in go to Services > Choose Payment option > Creating Challan.

Step 3 - Enter the amounts and choose the method of payment i.e. e-payment through internet banking and credit/debit card, over the counter or NEFT/RTGS. Once all the details have been furnished, click on the Generate Challan button.

Step 4 - After clicking on the Generate Challan button a challan will make receiving all the details of taxes. Once you make GST online Payment the amount paid will reflect into the cash ledger of the taxpayer.
