Do you feel frustrated by your receding hairline or thinning spots? Do you feel confused by the dazzling array of hair replacement systems online and don’t have a clue where to start? This is a useful guide, step by step for you to choose your first mens hair system.

Step 1: Choose A Base

When you search for men’s hair replacement systems online, there are many options available. There are different bases for each. The truth is there are only four basic types of base materials and they are: Lace, Skin, Monofilament (Mono) and Silk. All the different bases you see are constructed with one or a combination of these four basic materials.

Lace Base – Lace is soft, lightweight, delicate and totally breathable. There are two kinds of lace materials, Swiss lace and French lace. Swiss lace is the finest and most delicate and it needs to be handled carefully. French lace is stronger and more durable than Swiss lace. For a lace base, we usually use single knots in the front hairline and double knots elsewhere, which helps to create a natural hairline. If you exercise often, a lace base is your best choice as it is breathable. Typically, a lace base hair system can last 2-4 months with the correct care and maintenance.

Skin – A skin base, as the name suggests, looks and feels just like your own skin. The hair is injected, v-looped or knotted onto the base, to move just like your own hair would. Especially in the front area, the skin base can blend in with your skin seamlessly. The translucent material creates the illusion that hair is growing directly from the scalp, giving you the most natural-looking appearance.

Monofilament Base – A mono base is thicker and stronger than lace and skin and will certainly last longer. Monofilament base hair systems can last more than 6 months. They can carry medium thick hair like 120% or 130% density. This is suitable for those who are looking for thick and lush hair and want to save some money.

Silk Top Base –A silk top base creates the most natural and scalp looking hairline. Using a tri-layer system, when the hair is knotted, the knots are made below the silk concealed between the layers, the hair is then injected through the silk material making the knots 100% invisible, giving the illusion that the hair is growing out of your scalp. The only drawback of a silk top base hair system is that the base is thicker and not as breathable.

Mixed Base – You don’t need to be restricted to just the above 4 options. There are combinations. You can mix lace with skin, mono with skin, silk top with skin, and even silk top, skin and lace depending on your specific needs.

Step 2: Choose the Hair

There are 3 main kinds of hair for you to choose and they are European hair, Indian remy human hair and Synthetic hair.

European hair – European hair is super fine, soft and silky. The hair is never chemically processed, and the cuticles are still intact. Though this hair is comparatively more expensive.

Indian Remy Human Hair – Most of our hair systems are made from Indian remy human hair. Indian hair is very similar to Caucasian hair by being soft and fine. It is also more affordable.

Synthetic Hair – Synthetic hair is a much more economic choice. For our hair systems with gray hair blended, the gray hair is heat-friendly synthetic hair.

Step 3: Choose the Color

When you choose a color, make sure it matches with the rest of your hair so the hair system can blend in with your own hair and people won’t be able to tell. If you don’t have hair at all, you can choose a hair color that is the same color as your beard.

If you cannot decide which color, please send a few pictures of your existing hair to our customer service and we will help you pick the right color. Alternatively, you can purchase our color ring to do a color match or send us a sample of your hair for us to match the color.

Step 4: Choose the Hair Density

When it comes to choosing the right hair density, it’s important to choose according to your age and current hair thickness. It is not the thicker the better. We have several options for the density, and they are Extra light, light, medium-light, medium, medium-heavy, and heavy. Please contact our customer service if you cannot decide on the right density.

Step 5: Choose the Hair Texture

This step is the easiest. We have two textures available, wavy or straight and you can decide based on your own preferences.

There you go! Check our stock items for your hair system. If it is not in stock, we have another option available. We can customize a new hair system based on your specific needs.
