Advantages of having LED Street Light Fixtures

Here are five advantages of Led Street Light Fixtures:

1. Lower energy consumption:

Most of the LED lights have drastically reduced the energy consumption. Unlike the traditional lighting which consume a lot of energy, the LED street light fixtures are known to be very energy efficient and have double the energy efficiency of a traditional lighting system.

2. Long Lifespan:

LED streetlight fixtures are known to have a much longer lifespan while compared to other alternatives. Since they have no toxic chemicals and any other filaments that burn out quickly, their life span is automatically increased. On an average, the Led streetlights last up to 15 to 20 years which is much longer than the lifespan of an incandescent bulb.

3. Much safer to use:

Unlike some other alternatives, the led lights do not produce any poisonous gases when damaged making them a much safer option to use. They also do not have a warmup time period and instantly turn on and off and attain its full light output instantaneously. They also emit much less heat unlike some other types of bulbs. They are also good means for reducing carbon emissions. As countries develop, there is a greater demand for street lighting which at often times leads to light pollution. LED streetlight fixtures address this problem with its ability to control and focus light only on the areas that are required.

4. Produce efficient lighting:

In most cases, streetlights use a reflector to capture the light emitting upwards from the lamp. Many times, these absorb too much of light. Whereas a refractor helps focus the light onto the desired pattern on the street. However, few of the light rays may get wasted when directed upwards. LED streetlight fixtures do not require and reflectors or refractors as they produce one directional light. Light is emitted in one direction, thus making it easier to direct light onto specific areas rather than having a diffused glow. They are also provided with the flexibility in controlling lighting levels to create clever effects such as increasing brightness when someone walks by, dimming when no one is on the street etc. They also direct the light towards the road hence reducing the amount of light that falls directly on the drivers face.

5. Gives an accurate colour rendering:

Colour rendering index refers to the ability of a light source to reveal the colour of different objects accurately while compared to a natural light source. This improves the driver’s ability to recognize potential danger or hazards.
