Drinking moderate amounts of wine is beneficial for health as per the studies. Red wine is typically made from black or dark-colored grapes. The young wines are intense violet or red, while mature wines are brown. The young or red wines are considered better from a health perspective due to higher tannin levels than any other type of wine. It is chemically more stable than white wine and contains high antioxidants. 

 Red wine consumption has become prevalent in India with 80% demand from Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore and goa. The Indian wine market has grown at 25% in the last five years and holds a promising future. India is also going ahead in producing quality red wines with the five best adjudged Indian wines in India Wine show 2019. 

The red wine is available online in India in every major city. Amazon also sells red wine in India online after confirming the legal age of buyers but does not show on menu. Madhuloka portal also offers red wines of different brands in Bangalore. However, the market for red wine is still in the nascent stage in India. 

India has plenty of variety to offer to wine lovers. The best Indian red wines are Grover-Zampa Chene, Fratelli Sette, Sula Rasa Cabernet Sauvignon, KRSMA Syrah, Charosa Tempranillo Reserve, Grover-Zampa La Reserve and York Arros. The cost of wine depends on the quality and brand of wine.

Grover-Zampa Chene is spearheading red wine that imparts rich chocolate, coffee, toasty primary notes. The Sula Rasa Cabernet Sauvignon is produced in Nashik valley and is made from Shiraz grapes. It is a complex wine with power finesse. Fratelli Sette is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc grapes to the standards of Italian brand Sette. It is produced in Akluj vineyard of Pune and has been priced on the higher side.

Charosa Tempranillo Reserve contains diverse aromas of creamy coconut, vanilla, chocolate and raspberry. Its taste reflects soft finish with fruit flavors of ripe and fleshy raspberry, strawberry and plum. It is produced in Nashik region of Maharashtra.  

Grover-Zampa La Reserve is made from 80% cab and 20% Shiraz and has matured in new French oak. It delivers smoky aroma with notes of bacon, pepper, plums and roasted cherry. Maharashtra’s York winery produces the York Arros wine. It is a blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon and gives a taste of sweet vanilla, bright fruit and cinnamon.
