Windshield repair, or in most cases, auto glass repair might not be as easy as you think it is. Do not complicate life, go for the best repair service and get it corrected as soon as possible. Next time when you drive off your vehicle on the roads, you should not be seeing even a crack in front of your vision.

As with many industries, there has are the so called ”ambulance chasers” who take advantage of unwary consumers. Only they are called ”pit chasers” looking for those windshields that have small nicks or cracks that can be exploited. Another group is ”glass claim harvesters” who insists on the repairs regardless there is a need or not, and often they have the nerve to start removing the current windshield forcing the owner to pay for them to continue the work. One area is in the windshield repair mobile units. They claim that they could perform auto glass repair within a few minutes of time using a couple of tools and that they could remove any blemish or damage that are on your windshield for minimal amount of money. You can pay them directly, or have them bill your insurance company.

Answering the niche market for having services going to the consumer where ever they may be, work or home, many of the companies have become mobile, making their trucks and vans mobile shops with most of the tools they need to do the windshield repair and replacement or auto glass repair or replacement on site. Once the customer calls and gives information about their vehicle, they are able to get the OEM windshield repair personnel to install the new one and remove the old one with little inconvenience to the customer. Those who have other intensions usually look for vehicles that may be prone to having their windshield damages or many have a very small nick that can easily be made worse with the applications of pressure or discrete intentional act. Either way, they insist the windshield repair or maybe replacement has to be done immediately. But how do you know if the company who happens to make an appearance or even for shops that you have contacted is legitimate?

One of the ways you can tell if your windshield replacement technician is legitimate is whether they are certified or not. This certification has to be displayed prominently on their vehicles; store front windows or lobby; and possibly on their uniforms too. There are mainly three types of certifications that a company and individuals can hold. Two of them are thru the National Glass Association (NGA), as certified glass technicians (CGT) and master glass technician (CMGT); and the other one   is thru the Independent Glass Technicians (IGT). All of them require that the windshield repair and replacement technician has to have both classroom training as well as actual work experience in order to obtain and maintain their certifications.
