With a Texas Instruments 83, Accuracy extends to 14 digits in real and complex numbers, and the display shows 10 digits with a two digit exponent. There can be up to 10 graphing functions that can be defined, saved, displayed, and analyzed at one time. Graphs can be displayed in seven different styles and analyzed for function values, roots, maximums, minimums, integrals, and derivatives.
Statistical graphing types include scatter, xy-line, histograms, box and whisker, and normal probability plots. Business functions include Time-Value-of-Money, cash flow, and amortization
The keyboard is divided into four zones to help the user to find the right buttons to push and the graphing buttons are located directly under the screen. The keys are also color coded to further assist in user’s ability to quickly locate the right buttons.
A long list of free and for-purchase applications have been developed over the years that work on the TI-83 Plus. Standard preloaded Applications are Probability Simulation, Science Tools, StudyCards™, and Vernier EasyData™. In addition 35 applications are also available for download from the Texas Instruments website that can expand the utility and ease of use for the TI-83 Plus.
Likewise Applications can also be developed by the user with the SDK tools (programming) included in the TI-83. The entry of formulas can be made more intuitive after downloading the free application like “Zoom Math Starter Edition™” and “App4Math™”.To assist in the download of applications, a USB cable and TI Connect™ software is available that works with both Windows® and Mac® personal computers. This TI-83 Calculator allows for 126 KB of flash ROM memory is available for storing applications.
The TI-83 Plus can be connected to TI-83, TI-83 Plus, and TI-84 Plus with the included cable.In terms of memory,current calculations are saved when powered off manually or automatically. Operates on four “AAA” batteries, but to protect the contents of the internal memory a lithium battery is included.
On another note, the TI-83 is capable of operating with a horizontal or vertical split screen to show both text and graphs simultaneously with a screen size of 8 lines with 16 characters per line, and as the screen fills it scrolls automatically.This product comes with a one-year limited warranty is included.
