Shoplifter Challenge On Tiktok To Engage More Customers. Should Your Brand Do So

Posted by Lynna Ana on February 24th, 2020

Amid nowhere, there must be someone with magic ideas. This happens with a convenient store in New York which made Shoplifter challenge on Tiktok. The challenge is for the customers who can answer math given by the owners, they can take everything they want in the store within five seconds. This challenge has become viral and the owners get many followers on his Instagram and Tiktok’s profile.

Alwan, as one of the owners, said he just wanted to spread happiness especially for those who need it. His warm action melts everyone’s heart and many people commented they want to try the experience too.

However, if you are in charge of your brand or someone’s brand on social media, you have to consider is it okay to be implemented to get more customers. These are things you are likely to face if you do it with a big brand with big store too;

  • Imagine that if you announce on social media that there will be shoplifting challenges at the store, there will be many people ambushing the store. The worst thing could happen is your store will likely be chaos just like people’s rampage on Black Friday. So the first thing is; is it going to be safe for everyone?
  • Ruin your brand’s image. All the efforts of your brand have built will be destroyed just in few minutes. All the news will be spread all over, saying bad things about your brand and assumptions will raise like; is the brand trying so hard to get more engagement? Is the brand no longer trying to compete?
  • You will have a great loss that would lead to bankruptcy since almost everyone takes everything for free.

So what would you do to enhance your brand getting bigger again without doing shoplifting challenge?

  • Think about the purpose of your challenge.

What Alwan did is fine because he just wanted to spread happiness for those in need. But if your purpose to gain more potential customers, you must be wise with your challenge in order not to make them cancel their decision on your brand.

  • Align your brand with viral things
    If you are still uncertain about your challenge, you can look up into the current trending challenges. Pick the challenge and align it with your brand, own it like your brand is the pioneer of the challenge, so people will see your brand instead of the challenge.

To boost your brand on explore’s page of Tiktok, pick the right hashtags which earn lots of engagement. To see how many engagements are earned by one hashtag, write down the hashtag on Analisa.io, a tool for TikTok Hashtag Analytics.

  • Right product with the right person
    it means collaborating with Tiktok Influencers who are related to your brand and potentially will boost your brand to earn more engagements. Before you begin, you may analyze the engagements of the Tiktok Influencers on Analisa.io, a TikTok Engagement Rate to know how many engagements the influencers have within their profile. The more engaging, more promising
  • Don’t harm any customers or crews.

 What you learn from Alwan’s Shoplifting challenge is okay to spread happiness for those in need, while he was doing it at his small shop. But, you need to be considerate if you are in charge for bigger brand with bigger shop and customers because this challenge is unlikely to be applicable for it. If you keep insisting to make your brand be closer to customers or gain much attention from everyone, you have to be careful for it.
