 What to do once there?

Planes departing from France, and therefore from New Caledonia, are only very little checked when they arrive in Australia. It is quite rare that you are asked to present your visa to customs, but it is still more prudent to print it and take it with you, just in case.

Beyond this rule of prudence, you have absolutely no other obligation. You will need to have your passport and face scanned upon arrival before leaving the airport, then you will be completely free to do whatever you like throughout Australia. ETA Australia Visa

How to get your visa for Australia?

Fancy a road trip through the Australian bush? A visa application for Australia is only required from a stay of three months and more. Below this limit, an electronic authorization is sufficient and is very easy to obtain!

The “eVisitor” authorization: how does it work?

French nationals, like most other European travelers, can benefit from simplified formalities for their short stays in Australia. The so-called “eVisitor” form (category no. 651) can be obtained in just a few clicks on the official website of the Australian Immigration Service, and allows you to stay in the country for up to three months! It is a simplified and completely free visa.

The eVisitor authorization has a validity period of twelve months from the date of issue. It allows you, if necessary, to split your stay on-site into several trips as long as the totality of your stay does not exceed three months during this period. eVisitor is designed above all for tourists but is also valid for visiting family, following a short student session or making professional visits and contacts, with the ban however on working for an employer on the spot or sell goods and services.

The visitor visa

The “Visitor visa” (category n ° 600) is the document to request as a priority if you plan to stay longer in the country. It is available in two different versions authorizing a stay of six and twelve months respectively and is aimed at the same public as the eVisitor (tourists, family visit, professional canvassing ...).

To obtain it, download and complete form n ° 1419and to attach to it all the supporting documents requested. These vary according to your personal situation but typically include your passport, an identity photograph to official standards, a certificate of resources (account statement, payroll ...), your plane tickets or, if applicable, the description of your planned itinerary in Australia. Then all you have to do is send it to the attention of Australian consular services in France. Plan a minimum of two to three weeks of treatment.
