The Honda h23a and the k20 were the ruling engine class of the late 20th century to the early 21st century. They possess enormous strength and are well equipped for various purposes. The h23a engine boasts of an 87mm bore, compression ratio of 10.6:1, peak torque of 4500rpm and is equipped with VTEC. While its counterpart Honda k20 engine is a highly popular 4 cylinder engine and comes in numerous variations. Both engines are worth your attention and the investment!

The Honda H23a engine was added to the H-Series Honda engine family in 1992. It features includes an aluminum block which has dual overhead cams, 87mm bore, 4 valves per cylinder, PGM-FI with port fuel injection,  95mm crank shaft and a displacement of 2258cc. The first type of this engine that was manufactured was mildly tuned with a compression ratio of 9.8:1 and was not equipped with VTEC. The engine has a higher displacement of the engine which allowed it to reach its peak torque value of 4500 rpm. Different modifications of the engine were produced under several names [H23A1, H23A2, and H23A3] but they still share the same features with the earlier H23A but with very little differences in the power outputs of the engines. Later in 1999, a newly updated version of the h23a was released which possesses VTEC and FRM cylinder walls. Its compression ratio was also increased to 10.6:1 and the power output has been increased to have a maximum of 200hp. It can be distinctly identified by the blue valve cover.

Moving on, k20 is highly popular and although it doesn’t produce a great amount of power in absolute terms, this engine is important because it speaks of the new technologies Honda is developing and it indicates the technologies that will be used on the new generation high-performance engines that are to come. We are not wrong to say that k20 is a wonder-engine and this model has been frequently enhanced. Although at present k20 power standards are very mild the new first-class Integra will have a fearsome engine that will not pass unnoticed.  If you are interested in purchasing a k20 engine, you will be pleased to discover that nowadays most versions of this engine are available online at JDM. The most difficult model to find is k20A which is hard to be found and purchased at any price. However, individuals who want other k20 versions can visit the most reputed websites which have them on stock and ready to be delivered.

After reviewing both the Honda h23a engine and the k20, you would realize that both engines are really loaded with mouthwatering features. I can’t decide which one to choose myself, I feel like owning both but I am sure you should be able to select one that would meet your required needs.
