WHAT IS LENALID 25MG
Lenalid 25mg capsule is an immunomodulating agent. This medication affects the working of the immune system and helps the bone marrow in the making of new and normal blood cells, as well as, eliminating abnormal cells from the bone marrow. Sometimes, this drug is taken in combination, with other medicines for the treatment of anaemia in patients suffering from myelodysplastic and multiple myeloma. Patients suffering from multiple myeloma (a type of cancer of the bone marrow) and those who have already been treated with one other medication are prescribed Lenalidomide capsules, with dexamethasone.
LENALID 25MG HOW TO TAKE
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Lenalid 25 mg Capsule may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
LENALID 25MG DRUG INTERACTIONS
Cholestyramine And Activated Charcoal May Decrease Plasma Concentration Of Active Metabolite. Concurrent Use Of Methotrexate And Other Hepatotoxic Drugs May Increase The Risk Of Hepatotoxicity. Rifampicin Increases Serum Levels Of The Active Metabolite. Potentially Fatal: May Enhance The Adverse Effects Of Live Vaccines.
LENALID 25MG SIDE EFFECTS
Lenalid 25mg tablet may lead to some common side effects such as:
- Nausea
- Joint pain
- Chest pain
- Heartburn
Rare and severe side effects such as:
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Skin rashes
- Chest tightness
LENALID 25MG WARNING
You may be monitored with regular blood tests before and during the treatment as lenalidomide may cause a fall in the white blood cells and platelets, required to fight infection and blood clotting.
Avoid activities that may cause bruising or injury and avoid contact with people who have colds or infections.
You should not donate blood, semen or serum during treatment and for 4 week after the end of treatment.
You may be at risk of developing acute myelogenous leukemia, Hodgkin lymphoma tumor lysis syndrome, fatal liver problems, severe skin reactions and fatal heart problems during treatment with lenalidomide. You should discuss in advance the benefits and risks of taking lenalidomide.
Lenalidomide is not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years.
You should use proper contraceptive methods at least 4 weeks before, during and until 4 weeks after stopping treatment.
Woman of childbearing potential will be required to undergo pregnancy tests before, every 4 weeks and after the treatment.
You should inform your doctor or dentist that you take lenalidomide before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
Do not drive or operate machines while taking lenalidomide as it may make you feel dizzy, tired, sleepy or have blurred vision.

Before using Lenalid Capsule, inform your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products (e.g. vitamins, herbal supplements, etc.), allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions (e.g. pregnancy, upcoming surgery, etc.). Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take as directed by your doctor or follow the direction printed on the product insert. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens. Important counseling points are listed below.
- Have tumor, cancer, kidney or liver problems, certain hereditary problems, or blood problems, infection, blood electrolyte problems, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, or history of blood clots or heart problems
