Importance & Benefits of Holy Month of Ramadan.

In Ramadan, Muslims observe their obligatory fasts that have been made necessary as the 3rd pillar of the Islamic faith. For which, Muslims perform fasting all month long i.e. for 29-30 days and in between dawn to dusk. During this time, not only Muslims refrain from eating or drinking anything but also avoid some of the acts that are prohibited in the state of fasting but permissible otherwise. Consequently, instilling the believers with the ultimate traits of patience and gratitude, or ‘Taqwa’. Despite that, Ramadan remains regarded as the holiest month of the Islamic year in light of various reasons. The month of Forgiveness.

Ramadan is a month of forgiveness from Allah Almighty. Although the forgiveness from Allah Almighty never ceases on the believers, Ramadan is considered more superior in this regard. In this month, Allah Almighty especially answers to each and every one of a person’s wishes. Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) narrated that; (description) When Ramadan begins, Allah almighty opens the gates of heaven and closes the gates of Hell and the devils get chained. 

Existence of Layal-tul-Qadr.

Layla-tul-Qadr, better known as the Night of Power exists in the last Ashra of Ramadan. Although the exact date isn’t mentioned anywhere, Muslims are advised to look for it during the odd-numbered nights of lasts 10 days of Ramadan. The importance of this night is that the Holy Quran was first revealed to the Prophet (SAWW) during Ramadan. Allah Almighty also mentions it in the holy Quran;

Celebrations of Iftar, Suhoor, and Eid.

Ramadan has infinitely many feasts/celebrations from which Muslims enjoy. The daily practice of arranging Iftar and Suhoor and then ultimately the Eid celebrations. All of these are the times of great joy and happiness for Muslims which are indeed a great blessing of Allah Almighty.

Enhanced charity among the people.

In Ramadan, Muslims give a lot of charity. Let it be in terms of money, food, education, help or medical facilitation – they participate in it with great zeal and passion. It is indeed a blessing of Ramadan that enhances the interaction, love, and brotherhood between the less-privileged and wealthy people of the society.

The obligation of Fasting and its reward.

Fasting in Ramadan remains obligatory for every adult, healthy and mentally capable Muslim. Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) narrated about the importance of fasting; (description) Whoever fasts during Ramadan with sincere faith and intentions, hoping to attain Allah’s rewards then all his past sins will be forgiven by Allah Almighty.
