Citing is used to give credit to the sources and is important to use in academic work. If the sources are cited correctly, then it will provide validity to the thesis statement and conclusion made in work with supportive evidence. The APA referencing style consists of in-texting and referencing following the guidelines required to format the paper. The general rules of the Author are that the name of the authors should be arranged in alphabetical order by the last name of the first author of each work.

  •  The basic idea behind the citation of a scholarly article in APA style with multiple authors is to use in-text citation straight after a direct quote and it is also preferable to use in-text citation at the end of the sentence.
  • When there are more than three authors, use the first author’s surname and then use Latin abbreviation “et al.” for subsequent citations.
  • Always use alphabetical order of all sources used, titled ‘References’ on a separate page as it will help to make the report, essay and other paper systematic.
  • Appendices to be provided on a separate page after the reference list.
  • Page numbers must be included after the date if referring to a particular page or section of the page while doing citation of a scholarly article in APA style with multiple authors.

Moreover, on a simple form, if you are citing a source that has multiple authors, just follow these basic ideas behind to cite a scholarly article in APA style with multiple authors:

Only list the first author with the Latin abbreviation "et al." for any subsequent references. For example- James, Charles, Jackson, and Chiang (2010) duplicated...

James et al. (2010) further described...

  •  In the case of six or more Authors- If a paper is having six or more authors, simply provide the last name of the first author with "et al." from the first citation to the last. For example- Huang et al. (2007) likened abnormal psychology to...

... distractions (Huang et al., 2007).
