Things required to begin with casting of Gypsum Plaster

You can start using the Gypsum plasterby getting a kit or buying the following items individually which are easily available.

Gypsum plaster(from a good manufacturer)
Mold for getting the required shape
Bubble Buster
A mold release (just use vegetable oil)
Adding a plaster additive to the plaster will make the plaster to work better. Thus, considering the amount of Gypsum plasterthat you are using, add 3% of the plaster additive for improved results.

Instructions for Gypsum Plaster castings

Three parts of Gypsum plastermixed with one part of the water is the ideal ratio for using Gypsum plasterfor casting. Measure the water for the amount of Gypsum plasterthat you have taken and pour it into the container. If the paste is thicker, then you can add some more water to make it smooth. But make sure that you don’t pour much water as it weakens the plaster. Keep in mind the 3:1 ratio and start working along with that.
Remove the clumps of plaster if any with a spoon. Wear a glove if you want to use your hands.
While mixing the water and plaster, you must mix the powder into the water. Spread the plaster powder evenly on the surface of the water to avoid bubble formation. After the addition of PoP, you will be able to see them slightly above the water surface.
Gently stir the PoP mix until it becomes into a thick pancake consistency. It will also reduce the chance of bubble formation greatly.
Once after getting the PoP mixture in the required consistency, pour them into the molds. There are many online tutorials available over the internet which will help you in this case.
