What’s happening at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts this season?

I have had some wonderful experiences and memories when attending events and theater at the Scottsdale Performing Arts Center. From the tributes from Patsy Cline to the musical menopause, every visit has pleased me.

That is what will be the centerpiece this fall and 2011.

Talk Cinema arrives at the Scottsdale Performing Arts Center. This is your chance to see independent and foreign films before the cinema premiere. This event is organized by a number of industry experts and you can attend with your own review of each movie!

There will be nine projections in total with price advantages if you sign up for all projections. Tuesday night's shows begin in October, so plan to attend Talk Cinema this fall.

The 41st annual Scottsdale Arts Festival takes place March 11-13. Two hundred acclaimed artists from around the country take part in this honor event, showcasing their creations ranging from painting, photography, glass, jewelry, sculpture, wood, ceramics, drawing and cakes, fiber exhibitions and mixed media.

Arts Festival is sponsoring an online auction with earnings in favor of the center. There will be live music from local musicians, as well as a wine country, market and beer garden offering local food.

Don't forget the 2010 Imagine Nation. This year's theme will be Family Time and Family Fun honoring the diversity of the American family! The whole family will enjoy an interactive setup with stories and comedies that are generously distributed across a wide range of activities, reminding us that it does not take a lot of money to have a good time.

The 2010/2011 performance calendar is packed with exciting entertainment that includes Dine Out with the chefs now in their fifth year. Here you have the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of our best chefs, sample their creations and enjoy live entertainment.

Steve Martin arrives in town on October 10 with a Bluegrass band to perform mostly musical songs with great aplomb, dotted with his unique humor. I've always liked Steve Martin, from the live performance on Saturday night "King Tut" to his many excellent films, including my favorite "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."

Then we got a visit from the amazing John Lithgow. I loved him in Third Rock and more recently in Dexter as a creepy serial killer who kept Dexter amazed at his prowess with his trade! I can't forget to recognize life according to Garp and Shrek as part of John Lithgow's repertoire! On October 21, John will be on stage performing his individual show "Stories by Heart", shifting our emotions from one minute to another with his captivating style.

The musical guests include the legendary Doc Severinsen, who has announced his way through an extraordinary career tour with great bands such as Tommy Dorsey and Benny Goodman. He has also worked with the Phoenix Symphony and we all know him better as Johnny Carson's favorite musical companion!

Bernadette Peters is on stage in November with her veil of curls to perform songs from her show "Face of Broadway." Miss Peters is a brilliant cross between Barbara Streisand and Bette Midler, lighting the stage with her designer dresses and her sensual style!

Political farce and madness to anyone? The Capitol steps perform their sharp tongue satire without leaving anyone in safety, regardless of their affiliation and without stones without moving when it comes to entertaining the masses at the expense of our political leaders.

John Waters will entertain with his sharp and sharp jokes during the Christmas holidays, wishing us all a small and sticky Christmas with reminders of the not so subtly grown up content of all the Christmas flies that we so eagerly anticipate and why we could enjoy it.

Sister Christmas Catechism shows up on stage in December with yet another public participation adventure led by our favorite sun. This ever-changing presentation is for everyone faithful no matter what denomination! You have to be ready to wear a crown or a veil as some lucky members of the audience are pressed on stage to become a live birth scene during the performance! Great fun for everyone!

You can also enjoy Cuban salsa dancing on stage, the Baroque Orchestra of Venice and the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Robert Schumann's romantic music, Christmas in Ireland for DANU, Flamenco dance classes and more through the New Year!
