How To Dress Your Infant?

Posted by Jilli Rose on March 2nd, 2020

When you have become a new parent, there are many things to worry about. We begin to prepare for the arrival of the new comer even before they are here. One of the things that we get prepared with most is clothes for the infant. We choose what we think is cute and comfortable for them and can’t wait to see them in these. But we also have to figure out what is best for them to be dressed in. Not only is it important to ensure that they are kept safe in these clothes but also comfortable. Here are a few tips on how to dress your infant.

Onesies Are Better Than Tops And Bottoms

It is never a bad idea to store up on onesies for the infant. These are body suits which usually are buttoned in front. You don’t have to put them over the infant’s head which will not irritate them. Also, since they tend to fiddle around, these body suits will be kept in place. If you want to change the diaper, it is easier to button them down from the bottom and expose their lower half. Some have inbuilt socks as well which will keep the infant’s feet warm. You will be able to purchase onesies from any designer baby clothes shop.

Be Mindful About The Weather

It is known that the infant in their younger days can tend to get dehydrated soon due to the high surface area they have. Therefore, when it is warm, you must be mindful of this. A light weight onesie or other clothing made of cotton must be used during summer. However, infants also tend to get heat rashes easily. So, they must not be covered too much.

They will get too heated up. There are some materials of clothing that some infants are allergic to. They develop a rash called eczema when exposed to such material. It is important these are recognized and avoided at all costs. However, during winter, it is important that the baby is covered up appropriately. They must be covered in layers. And ensure they wear hats and socks as the head and feet tend toget cold the fastest.

You Can’t Have Too Many Blankets

It is always best to carry blankets or pieces of small clothing with your infant. They will tend to burp and make a mess of their clothes. The mess can be minimized if you take necessary precautions to safeguard their clothing by use of a blanket. For example, you can use a blanket over your shoulder, when burping the baby. This will also help protect your own clothes from being a mess.

Dressing up an infant is no easy task. You need to be prepared with their clothing well before they arrive. Make sure you purchase a lot of onesies; pay attention to the weather and dress the infant in appropriate clothing, and you can never have too many blankets to minimize the mess created by your infant. Above all, put them in cute outfits and don’t forget to take plenty of pictures.
