How to obtain an Italy visa

The process of applying for a Schengen visa for Italy can be done in multiple ways. Before applying in any of the methods, before you apply you must check if you are eligible for the type of visa that you require.

You can either apply directly at the embassy or consulate of Italy, or you can choose an authorized Italy Schengen visa consultants as per the Italy visa requirements.

Visa Application Centre -

  1. You can start off by downloading a visa application form for Italy.

  2. Once you downloaded the form, you must fill it up with appropriate details.

  3. Next, you have to submit your biometrics, for that you need to fix an appointment with the nearest VAC in your area

  4. Visit the VAC with Italy visa requirements, ie the documentation, photographs and the application form.

                   

Applying through an Italian Embassy/Consulate -

 

  1. Visit the respective embassy/consulate website and fill in the online application form. 

  2. After you have completed filling up the application form, you must take a print out of the confirmation page.

  3. Fix an appointment with the embassy/consulate depending on the state you live in. You can do this online at the website. 

  4. Visit the respective mission with the documents, and the print out for the biometric and application submission. 

  5. Please note that the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai does not accept visa applications, and have left it to the VACs to handle.

Italy Visa Types

Based on the Italy visa requirements, the types of visas differ too, the types of visas depending on the purpose and motive of the visit.

  • Schengen visa (C) - Also known as the short term Italy visa, this permit is valid for up to a duration of 90 days in a 180-day period. This permit is issued in the following types -

  • Italy Tourist Visa - If you want to go to Italy for taking part in tourism-related activities then this is the type of visa you should apply for.

  • Italy visits visa- If you are visiting Italy to meet your friends or family living in Italy then you will receive this type of permit.

  • Italy business visa - This type of permit is granted for people travelling to Italy to take part in business activities such as business meetings, conferences, conventions etc.

  • Italy student visa- This is issued for students who are visiting Italy to make the most out of numerous educational opportunities in Italy take part in short term studies, internships, or research that lasts less than 90 days. 

  • Italy National Visa (D) - Also known as the long term type, this is valid for durations longer than 90 days. The main types of categories under this are -

  •  Italy Employment - It is issued for individuals who are entering Italy to take part in work activities.
