paradoxe intervention

Posted by Thomas bieth on March 8th, 2020

A paradoxical intervention is a measure in which the patient is deliberately prescribed a problematic behavior or symptom of a disease as a means of overcoming exactly that behavior or symptoms. In coaching, paradoxical intervention may also be used. A good relationship between coach and customer is a prerequisite for this.

I recommend as a coach that you try something crazy to rearrange stalemate arguments. Try it yourself. For example when your child cries out and doesn't get calm down

  • Get a window open and encourage your child to shout louder.
  • Begin to sing a song, or recite a poem.
  • Just shout and romp

If the child does not want to dress up.

  • Declare barefoot day for the kids hay and go to the car without notice.
  • Bring him or her to your pajamas kindergarten.

Somebody who is currently stuck in their problems may need another intervention or maybe additionally stressed by paradoxes.

I am a certified "Systemic Coach" according to the framework guidelines of the Systemic Society, Berlin and the center for Systemic Research and Consulting Heidelberg.
