Three new uses for zipper

Plastic zippered storage bags are a staple in most kitchens. Zippered storage bags can easily be found with a sandwich for lunch or a handful of cereal for a toddler. Zippered storage bags are versatile, easy to use and low cost. With the advent of different sizes of zippered storage bags and freezer zippered storage bags, the scope of zippered storage bags is increasing rapidly.

Here are three new ways to use the regular kitchen zip lock storage bag.

1. Storage of brown sugar. It is far too common to go into the pantry and find that your brown sugar is hard as a rock. Simply removing brown sugar from the paper box when you bring it home and pour it into a Black Zipper will eliminate this problem. As an added benefit of storing brown sugar in a zippered storage bag, it is easy to measure and package when required in recipe.

2. Nuts storage. Nuts due to the high oil content can quickly become rancid. By storing nuts in a freezer with a zipper, storage bags can safely be stored in the freezer for months. The nuts can also be used strapped out of the freezer's zippered storage bag for toasting and chopping. No thawing is required.

3. Storage of cake flour. The nature of flour causes it to attract bugs and be affected by changes in humidity. Removing cookie flour from its cardboard box and storing it in a zippered storage bag will alleviate both of these problems. You can place the zippered storage bag full of flour back in the box and keep a clean and tidy pantry.
