Everest Base Camp Trek Altitude and Acclimatization

While trekking in the mountain region, your body needs to adapt to the changing environment as the altitude increases. As you gain altitude, the oxygen level decreases, and you may find difficulty in breathing. Thus, it is necessary to acclimatize at various altitudes to ensure a safe trip.

In the EBC Trek, there are several points of acclimatization. The first place is the famous Namche Bazaar (3,440m). Namche Bazaar is the first stop at an altitude higher than 2,000m. During the acclimatizing day in Namche Bazaar, you can explore the beautiful town.

The second stop for acclimatization is Tengboche (3,860m). After Tengboche, the altitude reaches 4,000m. Dingboche (4,410m) is the next stop for acclimatization. After Dingboche, the final stop for acclimatization is Gorak Shep (5,140m), from where you reach EBC (5,364m) and Kala Patthar (5,643m).

Everest Base Camp Trek Weather

In general, the weather is cold in the mountainous region of Everest throughout the year. However, during spring (February-May) and autumn (September-November), the weather is not very harsh, and there is less unpredictable variability.

The skies are pretty clear, resulting in less haze and fog, increasing visibility. Thus, the views will be bright and stunning. Along with it, the temperature is also favorable for trekking during these two seasons. It is neither too hot nor too cold. The sunny days ensure that there will be no rain or snow.

Thus, the autumn and spring seasons are the best time to do the Everest base camp trek.
