Taking Care Of Your Postal Uniforms: 4 Things You Need To Keep In Mind

Just like all other items of clothing, your postal uniform too requires some amount of upkeep. And that includes taking care of them while washing and drying. You would be surprised to know that using the wrong methods of washing or drying is one of the leading reasons for clothes losing their quality, and postal uniforms are no different. Since your US Postal uniforms are not exactly cheap, you must take special care of them to ensure longevity. That includes keeping these simple maintenance tips in mind:

1. Read the care instructions on the label.

Most of us are guilty of ignoring the care instructions that are written on the little label inside the garments. So we end up washing that which needs to be dry cleaned, machine washing that which needs to be hand washed and so on. That ends up reducing the lifespan of the clothes. If you want your postal uniform to last long, read the instructions and follow them.

2. Pre-treat stains before you wash an entire garment.

Staining clothes is a normal thing to do. It is unavoidable. But it is how you choose to clean them that decide if an item will be fit for future use. The best way to get rid of stains is by pre-treating them with detergent. Apply some detergent on the stain and wait for it to penetrate. Once you see the stain fading, wash the item like you normally would.

3. Hang dry or use low heat.

When you read the care label, you will know about the right dryer settings for your uniform. Although, if there are no such instructions, it is advisable to either hang them dry in shade or use a low heat setting in your dryer because high heat can speed up the aging of your clothes.

4. Do not use wire hangers to hang your uniforms.

Wire hangers are thin, which means they do not offer sufficient support to your uniforms. That can lead to stretch marks on your shirts and pants as well as warping. They can also lead to wrinkles that may refuse to leave, no matter how much you iron your garments. So make sure that when you buy new postal uniform shirts, you use wooden or felt hangers to hang them in your closet.

It is crucial that you take care of your uniform, even your postal uniform shoes, to keep them looking as good as new for a long time. Keeping these few care and maintenance tips in mind will help you prevent your uniforms from getting damaged.
