Where To Put A Wood Pile In The Yard

Posted by Sydney Firewood on March 13th, 2020

Finding a local supplier, checking online ratings and reviews and in the end, placing your order for bulk firewood for sale, this can be done in a few minutes. The most important part of the job is to choose a place for stacking firewood. You have to find and prepare the place before the delivery arrives. When the supplier’s truck honks at your door, you can direct the driver where to unload the supply. This is the place where you are going to season and keep your bulk firewood. So, choose the location wisely. You might want the convenience of firewood nearby, but you cannot ignore the termite problem. It’s a big nuisance. And then there is another mess associated with seasoned logs. So, let us help you with this guide.

Location

You don't want to get out when the temperature drops. So, choose a location allowing easy access to firewood. There should not be any obstacles such as an outdoor sitting area, garden or pond. You don't want anything getting in your way when it is getting dark and you are bringing some firewood indoors to burn in your fireplace. You don’t want to maneuver these obstacles. Piles of wood can attract insects and rodents which can invade your house. So, placing firewood too close can't be a wise move. Choose a location that is at a safe distance and easily accessible.

The location should have good drainage. In case it rains, the bottom layer of the firewood should not sink into the mud. Stack your firewood on pallets to make sure that it does not touch the ground.

Rodents and Insects

Do you want to invite some unwanted guests that can cause some damage to your furniture or curtains? So, keep the pile somewhere around 30 feet away from your house. Wood piles make a perfect home for mice, insects and even snakes. It can also provide shelter to insects such as beetles, termites, borers and other species. Keeping firewood near your house is an open invitation to these unwanted guests.

Near The Home

Some people gather and keep some logs next to the door. This allows them to maintain a fire. They can also get the firewood in a hurry. If you are going to use them quickly, you can keep some on the deck. The firewood should not sit up against your wall for longer than 15 days.

Air Drying

Keep nearby structures or objects in mind while choosing a location. Even when you have ordered seasoned bulk firewood for sale, the wood stays dry when it gets plenty of airflow. Also, cover the wood pile when it rains.

Hope this will help you in choosing the right location for your bulk firewood.
