The capital of the mountainous state of Sikkim, Gangtok has over the years emerged as quite a popular tourist destination. The Tibetology Museum of Gangtok features a rare collection of coins, thankas, and statues. Here people can find numerous Tibetan objects and artwork on display, along with manuscripts in Chinese, Tibetan, Lepcha, and Sanskrit. The most prominent display of this Tibetology Museum is the grand image of Manjushri (bodhisattva of wisdom and knowledge) which was brought here from Tibet. 

  • Tashi View Point: This site offers the tourists with a sweeping view of Kanchenjunga snow peaks on the days when the sky is clear. The sunrise views witnessed from the Tashi View Point are especially spectacular, and people can get the chance to see the Kanchenjunga peaks changing its colours gloriously as the sun rises. However, to witness this view, people must reach this point before 5 am.

  • Dordul Chorten Stupa: This stupa was built in the year of 1945 by Trulshik Rinpoche who was the head of the Nyingma order of Tibetan Buddhism. Inside the Dordul Chorten Stupa, one can find several religious objects, including a complete set of Dorjee Phurba, Kangyur (Holy Books). This Stupa additionally is surrounded by Guru Lakhang and Chorten Lakahang, where one can find two statues of Guru Rinpoche. 

  • Banjhakri Falls: This is one of the prime tourist attractions of Gangtok. Banjhakri Falls is a natural waterfall that is sourced from springs at a higher elevation. This gorgeous cascade is around 98ft high and is famed for being a great spot for photography.
