There are multiple ways you can add pomegranate to your regular diet.

  1. Add it to a salad with some chopped spinach along with toasted nuts and a tasty vinaigrette. 

  2. Pomegranates can be added to a yogurt parfait, paired with citrus fruits and chopped nuts. 

  3. Add pomegranate seeds to cooked rice, quinoa, or farro to add color and flavor. 

Pomegranate possets with lemon and pistachio biscotti for Low Libido

  • 180ml of pomegranate juice

  • 600ml of double cream

  • 135g of caster sugar

  • ½ lemon

For biscotti

  • 250g of plain flour

  • 1 tbsp of baking powder

  • 250g of caster sugar

  • 110g of pistachios

  • ½ lemon

  • Two eggs

  • One egg yolk

  1. To prepare the posset, put all the ingredients in a pan. Bring it to boil while stirring.

  2. Turn the heat down slightly and simmer it for about 4 minutes.

  3. Pour the mix through a fine sieve, skim with a spoon to ensure your possets have a smooth, clean finish.

  4. Pour this mixture into serving glasses.

  5. For the biscotti, mix the flour, baking powder, pistachios, sugar, and lemon zest. 

  6. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and egg yolk.

  7. Add the egg to the ingredients gradually, mixing until the dough comes together. 

  8. Roll it out into an oval 3cm deep. 

  9. Chill the dough in the fridge for an hour. 

  10. Preheat the oven to 180C and put the dough in the oven for 20 minutes, then leave to cool.

  11. Cut into 1cm-thick slices once it is cooled. 

  12.  Put the slices back in the baking tray, turn the oven down to 140C.

  13.  Bake for 6-10 minutes.

  14.  Remove and place them on a cooling rack.

  15.  Put fresh pomegranate seeds on top of the posset, with the grated lemon zest, and the biscotti.

Pomegranate juice is safe for most people, but some people can have allergic reactions to it. Symptoms of an allergy include itching, inflammation, runny nose, and difficulty breathing. Drinking pomegranate juice can lower blood pressure, and it might increase the risk of blood pressure dropping too low in people who have hypotension. This effect might also interfere with blood pressure control during or after surgery. If you have diabetes, you stay away from pomegranate as it has a high level of sugar. Pomegranate adds up calories to the plate and can also cause weight gain. The excessive consumption of this fruit might cause nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.

Pomegranate has so many nutritious constituents that its regular consumption can rejuvenate a man’s health.  Studies are being conducted to prove it as a cure for prostate cancer. It can be easily included into the daily eating routine. It can be a cheaper alternative to many supplements and drugs. However, the sugar content makes it ineffective if a person is looking to maintain weight and wants to control the body’s sugar levels.
